Securing Talent and Reducing Turnover

A service organization with 1,000+ employees and multiple locations nationwide struggled not only to find good technician candidates, but to keep them. A 25 percent turnover rate left the company struggling to hire enough people to keep up with turnover and meet the demands of their growing organization. Utilizing multiple job sites and attempting to recruit transitioning service members on military bases weren’t sufficient to resolve the problem.

SOAR Consulting partnered with the company, focusing efforts on matching qualified technicians with the client’s needs. We worked closely with our client to understand the company culture, create clear and specific job descriptions, and establish a process for evaluating candidates and delivering feedback.

Over the course of the project, SOAR handled 104 job orders for the client. The results:

  • 583 candidates were screened by SOAR, an average of 5.6 per position
  • 374 candidates were recommended to our client, an average of 3.6 per position
  • 73 placements resulted, filling 70 percent of the total job orders

The turnover rate among our placed candidates? Five percent, representing a 20 percent decrease from the company’s previous turnover rate.
